About Camp Cadet

Camp Cadet is designed to bring to its youth a better understanding of law enforcement activities while living in the atmosphere of the State Police Academy. Emphasis is placed on self-discipline, the ability to make new friends and to work with them as a team.

Camp Cadet is NOT for troubled youth -- this is a BIG misconception!! In fact, the week long experience is offered to ANY boy or girl, age 12 through 15, that is a resident of Bedford County. The camp is provided FREE to all youth thanks to the generous support of Bedford County businesses and friends, an annual fundraiser held by the cadets, and the C.C. Rider's Motorcycle Run held by Camp Staff.

Among the subjects to be presented at camp are the use of helicopters by the State Police and medical personnel, Special Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Wildlife Conservation Officers from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, K-9 Demonstrations, local humane agencies, and the unforgettable Obstacle Course Competition.

Camp Cadet 2008 will run from Sunday, June 15 through Friday, June 20. (Check back at a later date for Check-in and Graduation times.)

Bedford County youth interested in the program must submit an application. Deadline for applications is March 7, 2008. (Camp staff will be visiting local schools beginning in January 2008 to explain the program and hand out applications.) An interview will then be scheduled at the Bedford State Police Barracks by Staff Members
